HOW TO LAND A FREELANCING JOB WITH EXPERTSOURCE PRO (AND STAND OUT)
    December 8, 2021

Calling all subject matter experts! Discover your next freelancing gig with a wide range of remote opportunities on ExpertSource Pro.

    What is ExpertSource Pro?

ExpertSource Pro, also known as ESPro, is a cloud-based solution that connects businesses with experienced freelance contributors from around the globe. Whether you are a subject matter expert searching for a side job, seeking freelancing work in academics, or looking to diversify your portfolio, ESPro is an excellent place to start. Learn how to maximize your full potential, jumpstart your career, or continue to expand your client base as a freelancer.

Here’s what you need to know when it comes to your freelancing journey using ESPro with Lumina Datamatics.

    1. Create a freelancing profile on ESPro

For starters, you’ll want to set up a new profile in ESPro. Launch the website and click >> Join ESPro as a Freelance Expert. Provide your name, email, and phone number. Click next, dive in, and get started! Here’s what you need to fill in:

      • A profile summary giving a short explanation of who you are, what your background is, and what areas of expertise you specialize in.
      • Contact information, including email and phone number, and a targeted hourly rate so hiring managers have an idea of what to expect
      • Resume or CV highlighting your career path, relevant teaching experience, and professional achievements
      • BONUS! Catch the eye of a hiring manager by uploading writing samples.

Remember, the more complete your profile is, the better your chances are for being selected for projects. More importantly, though, you can stand out from the crowd by establishing your credibility as a reliable freelancer. Communicate often and deliver on schedule and you may find yourself getting more assignments, earning more referrals, and hearing from the Lumina recruiters more often.

    1. Keep your resume or CV up-to-date

A good rule of thumb is to make updates to your resume or CV whenever you reach a professional milestone such as completing a certification program, checking a special project off your list of accomplishments, or accepting a promotion. Refreshing your resume means you want to showcase your most recent achievements, skills, and experiences that are relevant to the position in which you are applying for. Think about it this way, you want to be ready to open the door when the next opportunity comes knocking. Just like a tidy yard makes for good curb appeal, a tidy and up-to-date profile does the same for recruitment!

Monster career expert, Vicki Salemi, recommends making updates every 6 to 12 months to add on new skills and experiences. “Your resume is your brand,” says Salemi, who has spent more than 15 years in corporate recruiting.

    1. Browse freelancing jobs posted on ESPro

Another great way to continue your search for freelancing work is to take the time to check the job board each week in ESPro. Browse available openings posted on the job board and apply to any positions that align with your qualifications and interests. Reach out to the recruitment team with an updated copy of your CV or resume. When you get approached by a recruiter, be sure to let them know your availability, targeted hourly rate, and any other relevant details related to the project. This is where having a completed profile in ESPro comes in handy. It’s also a good idea to occasionally check in with the recruiting team for potential opportunities coming down the pipeline.
