Content Development Lead, US
Position/ Job Title: Content Development Lead
Job Description:
As Content Development Lead you will oversee the development, delivery, and quality of a wide range of projects for educational publishing clients. You will use your excellent editorial skills and project management expertise to ensure projects are well-written for the appropriate audience, are objective and outcome aligned, consistently adhere to specifications, are delivered on time and within budget, and exceed client expectations for accuracy and quality. You will support the creation and/or revision of educational and professional content (narrative content, assessments, supplements, and digital content) as well as the production and release of finished products across a wide range of disciplines and modalities. You will use your content development expertise to coach and mentor other internal and freelance team members and to ensure implementation of best practices.
This position is full-time, with benefits, reporting directly to the Associate Vice President. It can be located either in our Norwell, MA, office or remote from your home office (however, this position must be US-based).
Compensation commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Develop and implement content development best practices across US Education content and production teams, collaborating with Operations Directors in the creation of workflows and execution of client requirements.
- Mentor freelance SMEs, writers, developmental editors, and project managers in day-to-day tasks such as creating content written to client guidelines and specifications, providing accurate and appropriate content, adhering to schedules and budgets, using proactive communication, and troubleshooting issues. Content may be print or digital, static or interactive.
- Ensure development and delivery of high-quality assessment content using your knowledge of Bloom’s taxonomy, difficulty levels, quality feedback and rejoinders, tagging and mapping, and metadata.
- Test, vet, and onboard freelance SMEs, DEs, and project managers. Review work for quality and adherence to specifications.
Develop and edit select projects to completion; oversee the content development of specific services lines. - Maintain accurate project data in internal systems.
- Provide input related to budgets, schedules, and project scope to support responses to RFPs, bid proposals, and other client requests.
- Using excellent customer service skills, participate in client-facing project meetings and calls where you will provide status updates, gather information, develop project and development plans, and lead problem-solving efforts.
- Implement diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging language guidelines in content and provide support to SMEs and freelancer contributors to ensure they adhere to DEIB requirements.
- Engage in continuous learning and development to maintain superior content development expertise and to investigate and implement trends, technologies, and techniques to enhance our services.
Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of developmental editing and/or content development experience within higher education publishing. (Preference will be given to candidates with experience in both development/content editing and project management tasks.)
- Able to work with multiple clients and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Adept at standard business applications (MS Office, Adobe, Google Docs/Sheets, messaging applications) and able to learn new digital systems quickly.
