    ADAPTIVE LEARNING FOR CORPORATIONS
    January 22, 2018

What is the secret of success behind any company? Is it a business strategy or leadership? Or is its employees? The answer is yes, to all of these things. But behind all of that, the bedrock of any company is training. It is essential to the development of the employee as well as the company. In recent years, there has been a need for training to become more ROI (Return-On-Investment) based. According to Bersin by Deloitte’s annual Corporate Learning Factbook, U.S. businesses spent 10 percent more on corporate training in 2015 than in 2014. Concurrently, corporations around the world have been using adaptive learning technology to their advantage.

Assessment and training is the core of any good corporate strategy as more employees will be well trained to face the challenges that await them in the future. For instance, corporations have centers and offices across the world. With this in mind, language training becomes an essential makeup of a productive employee. As an integral part of company strategy, language learning programs can help employees more effectively engage with suppliers, customers, and co-workers in their language, resulting in more productive conversations and – in many cases – more successful outcomes.

Another great benefit of corporations having adaptive learning systems is that they’re mostly available in an online environment. Employees and instructors don’t need to coordinate schedules for the training to proceed. In essence, it’s a flexible option where no one is left behind, and schedules can vary according to the need of the hour. HR representatives would never have to leave their office to conduct training. The ‘trainer’ would already be online. In some cases, mobile learning has been used to affect corporate learning solutions significantly. This will nearly cut overall costs as schedules are no longer interrupted, and productivity will not suffer.

Here’s another simple reason for the need for smart learning management systems. They’re idle for the modern employee. The modern employee is like a ‘pinball machine.’ They’re always on the move and need a system as dynamic as they are. More importantly, the content supports various presentation styles within one course, including audios, videos, animations, listicles, and short podcasts. Modern learners expect curated learning experiences with the delivery of bite-sized content, ensuring interactive learning experiences. It can be argued that adaptive learning is a data-centric that will provide the right metrics to the organization on the development of an employee.

Adaptive learning does not just help train the employee but also helps hire the right employee for multi-national corporations. More companies and businesses are using a customized smart adaptive test to assist in talent acquisition. Pre-employment testing is increasingly being adopted by hiring managers to improve accuracy, reduce costs, and speed up hiring. This makes for better hiring decisions, greater process efficiency, and a comprehensive view of an employee’s strengths and weaknesses.

The future is not coming. It’s already here. Corporations must embrace it, and by doing so, they will do more than make a profit. They will be at the forefront of learning and development, forming a symbiotic relationship with the digital world. This would give employers access to the best content and gain deeper insights into an employee’s knowledge and skillsets. Over time, this approach would create unique training pathways for each employee and drive up a corporation’s bottom line.
